Kevin A. Highlander, 2001, graduated from WVU Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. While at Tech, Highlander was an active member of Accounting Leaders of Tomorrow (ALOT).  It was through his activity and the relationships he developed in ALOT that he was able to secure his first job in public accounting with a statewide public accounting firm. He is currently a partner in Baker Tilly U.S., LLP, where he continues to serve clients in the firm’s tax practice.

Highlander also serves the accounting profession by being active in the West Virginia Society of CPAs where he currently serves as the Chair of the Tax Committee. He is also a member of the West Virginia Tax Institute and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. He regularly presents on a variety of tax topics through the Society and the Tax Institute.

Outside of professional endeavors, Highlander spends his time giving back to the community through board service. He is currently a board member of TechConnect West Virginia, whose focus is advancing science, technology and economic development in West Virginia. Highlander served for nine years as a board member of the West Virginia Child Advocacy Network (WVCAN), a group dedicated to fighting child abuse in West Virginia.

While not currently a board member of WVCAN, the organization is still near and dear to his heart and continues to support their work.

A lifelong West Virginia resident, Highlander is proud to call the Mountain State his home. He has fond memories of his time at Tech and is incredibly appreciative of the support and guidance he received from his professors.

Highlander resides in Charleston with Sarah and their two sons, Zach and Dylan.

While not one for traditional vacations, he and his family enjoy live music and regularly go to concerts. He and his sons are also avid video gamers.
