WVU Tech Office of Alumni Relations

Greetings, fellow Golden Bears:

My name is Tara Hines and it is my pleasure to serve as your new alumni coordinator. As a Tech alumna, it is an honor to be back at our alma mater working to reestablish alumni connections and building on our existing Tech traditions.

I’d like to take a moment to give you a brief update on some of the great things that are happening at Tech. The campus is growing. In fact, fall enrollment was up nine percent over last year! Campus renovations have included the much-loved Tech aquatics center, and plans are under way to clean up and expand the Tech Trail.

We anticipate more great things ahead for Tech. As many of you may know, the West Virginia Legislature passed Senate Bill 486 to revitalize WVU Tech. Plans for revitalization should create a solid future for our beloved university – one filled with growth and vitality. Although plans required the discontinuation of the football program, I am excited by the promise of the revitalization of our campus. Immediate plans include the renovation of Old Main and the demolition of Co-Ed.

As a Tech grad, I know that change can be challenging, but I have great confidence in this university. With support from alumni, friends, the community, campus leaders, faculty, staff and students, I am optimistic that our alma mater will continue its great tradition of success for years to come.

The national Tech Golden Bear Alumni Association has been fortified with a new board of directors and is excited to welcome new members. Membership is extended to all dues-paying alumni. Annual dues are $25 per person and lifetime dues are $250 per person. While supplies last, those paying lifetime dues will receive a Tech Golden Bear Lifetime Member t-shirt.

I encourage you to keep in touch with us – we want to hear from you! Please feel free to contact me anytime.

Sincerely,
Tara Hines, ‘03
